An ultrasound examination (sonography) of the abdomen is advised in the event that persisting symptoms such as pain, long-lasting nausea with or without vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation or flatulence lead to suspicion of an abdominal disease.
In this way diseases of the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, spleen, and major blood vessels, as well as some diseases of the small and large bowel, can be detected swiftly and without radiation.
